yeah, how's g,b, & q? i tried to get it on itunes a couples weeks ago, but it wasn't there yet. is it worth spending part of the itunes gift certificate my boss gave me at x-mas?

no bjorn ill make you a copy. i already spent money on it so theres no reason for you to also. i like it even inspite of the fact that i rarely listen to anything that could be called a band.

i think i need to listen to more indie rock. not whiny stuff but you know... good bands that verge on punk or something...

Brown Bear - TV on the Radio is playing Metro March 12 and 13. Im going the 13th. (They were great there in October last year, I promise you'll like) Best band I love. I just turned my little bro onto them today...

Jess - 2nd to TV on the Radio only because they broke up is a band called Death From Above 1979. For a whole year, I listened to some - or all - of their 15 songs every day. If you are interested in 'indie rock...that verge on punk'. They have three albums (1 EP - Heads Up, 1 LP - You're A Woman, I'm A Machine, and that same LP remixed - Romance Bloody Romance). Only a bassist and a drummer (who doubles for the singer). Most catchy, rocking, indie-punk-dance music on earth. The remixes will scratch your disco-house itch. I would start with You're A Woman, I'm A Machine.

Also, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion is an old favorite standby from my high school days for indie bluesy rock. No bass needed, and Jon Spencer was the best frontman I've ever seen in concert.

Unless you count Bono when I saw him curl up in the fetal positon and sing from the ground. This was after he blindfolded himself with his Christian/Judaism/Muslim unity headband.

Jess, I think I still have to make you copies of my Kills albums - I was playing something at my house a few weeks ago and you said you liked it. I like VV because she's mean yet soulful. When she sings "fuck the people" you know it comes from the heart. Seriously though I love them and I think they're working on a new album. Listening to them now.

Maybe you'd also like Lying in States and old Fugazi. Junior Senior are also crazy fun but not punky; i wonder what they've been up to recently.

    i heart you guys

yes i like old fugazi and i want those kills albums. back in the day i used to listen to a lot of fugazi, pavement, dinosaur jr., the pixies, and a lot of punk like bikini kill, op ivy (god i miss rancid) and L7 but i totally listened to john spencer blues explosion too.

i am going to get on the death from above and clap your hands say yeah.

i guess in general i just think the music i associate with 'rock' disappeared and it got replaced with whiny complaint rock and brit pop and i dont get down like that. i wonder why that is... i feel like rap music is the hair band metal of the 00's. like it took over as the sex drugs and rock and roll center of gravity for music. theres striking similarities between ying yang twins videos and old whitesnake videos... dudes in funny outfits with half naked girls.

Somehow I'm so torn about TVOTR. I heard them a while back, and thought 'ok, cool... a bit uneven here and there maybe?' Going back and listening again, they're pretty sweet. The hipster hype machine seems to be kicking in pretty hard tho.. I guess I should be happy that they're finding success. They are pretty unique.

For the stuck at work crowd, you can stream most/all of 'Cookie Mountain' and tracks from earlier albums here (click 'listen').

Touch And Go has a stream of 'Desperate Youth, Blood Thirsty Babes' up somewhere. I'll dig it up in slap it up here.

okay so im listening to death from above 1979 and i really like it.

clap your hands say yeah is a little whiny for me. maybe its just the singer. i like a few tsongs like the title track on their new album but im not sure im sold overall.

does anybody have any white stripes? which one is a good album? dont say all of them. pick the best one so i can start slow. also is jack whites new project the raconteurs any good?

Jess - White Blood Cells was the first album to break big for the White Stripes. De Stijl and The White Stripes were before, Elephant and Get Behind Me Satan came after. White Blood Cells is a good introductory album. Still has the rawness of the first two, but songwriting is better.

    It's all good, though.
