Hey folks,
Congratulations to everyone who just wrapped up another season of UC Summer League at the Naperville Polo Fields. For those of you who enjoyed the quality play of the league champions, there's another opportunity coming up to see an even higher caliber of ultimate (and party too).
On September 8th and 9th, the 14th edition of the Chicago Heavyweight Championships (formerly Tune-Up) will be taking place at the Naperville Polo Fields, with more than 80 teams coming from across the country to prepare for the fall club season and compete for the tournament championships. Many of you may already be playing in the open, women's or mixed divisions, but for those who are not, we would like to extend an invitation to come out and enjoy this great event.
To expand on past success, we are welcoming new partners like Coors Brewing Company, who will be providing 15 kegs of Blue Moon, Killians, and Coors Light for the Saturday night party along with ten cases of Zima (someone bring Jolly Ranchers?). Of course there will also be non-alcoholic drink options (please bring your ID if you want to drink alcohol). This post-game party will be open to EVERYONE -- all CHC participants and all Ultimate Chicago members are welcome to join for FREE drinks, FREE music and catering from a local food vendor at a modest fee. For those of you getting ready to start the UC Fall League season, please come on out after your games, there is plenty to go around!
During the day there will be plenty of high quality ultimate to see, and everyone is encouraged to check out Five Ultimate for their merchandise and "Ultimate Carnival". CHC will also be supported by Function Drinks and Mad-Croc energy drinks, and a lunch vendor is in the works. For those that are interested, there are opportunities to volunteer -- compensation will include schwag like food from Chipotle, t-shirts, discs, and undying gratitude. Contact chc.tdir@gmail.com to learn more.
Thanks for your participation and support of CHC and Ultimate Chicago,
I can't believe I'm going to miss this! Always such a good time. Although to comfort myself I'll think about the tourney two years ago, when I lost ~10 pounds in water over the course of the weekend because it was approx. 1.3 million degrees.
