Just glancing at first round scores mid game, and I notice that Women's is very clear who's at the top and who's just there. Mixed and Open is at least a little closer.

    Halftime of first round:

    Machine down 8-6 to condors

    Upsets in the making
    Chain over SubZero 8-4
    TruckStop over Furious 8-6

Agreed with EA's comments re womens. Lady Godiva (go Lyrica!!!) is the only bottom 8 seed that seems to be making it a game.

    First Round done

    Everything goes to seed except:
Furious lost to Truck Stop (DC)
Sub Zero lost to Chain (ATL)

I can understand the Snowmen losing (Chain played well all year, than lost to a not-so-good doublewide team at regionals, and were in semis last year), but the monkey loss shocks me.

    I am shocked.

Machine played tight with condors, bravo up next round (bravo has a nice rest after stomping doublewide).

Barrio upset Mischief. Godiva upset Zeitgeist. Guess the NW isn't all that, is it?

Maybe more madness in Pool B of mixed - Barrio has a small lead on Tandem. Apparently Liz Penny (former Riot standout) plays on Barrio. I didn't even need to check the Roster, I just looked at the photo here: http://tucsonultimate.com/barrio/. She has a pretty trademark look.

I had checked out rosters, looking for people I know going to nationals (a very small amount) and noticed Liz Penny on Barrio. Guess that's a pretty big pickup and she's having a huge impact. Guess that happens when you bring in a proven winner from a winning program. Always helps. Of course, I have no idea what other changes Barrio might have made.

    Furious lost again, cripes

So, can Furious machine their way into the power pools (in 2002, we needed to beat boss hog by 5 to make it up and we won 15-10)?

Your Tie-Breaker guide to the fourth round

    If Chain beats Truck Stop:
If Sub Zero wins or loses by 4 or less, then SZ and Chain go up, TS and FG go down (and FG brings a loss with them)
If Sub Zero loses by 6 or more, then FG and Chain go up, TS and SZ go down (and TS brings a loss with them)
If Sub Zero loses by 5
-TS loses by 4 or less, TS and Chain go up, FG and SZ go down (SZ with the loss)
-TS loses by 5 or more, FG and Chain go up, SZ and TS go down (TS with the loss)

    If Truck Stop beats Chain:
If SZ loses, TS and Chain go up, FG and SZ go down (SZ with the loss)
    IF SZ wins
-TS wins by 8 or more, TS and SZ go up, FG and Chain go down (FG with the loss)
-TS wins by 5-7, TS and Chain go up, FG and SZ go down (FG with the loss)
-TS wins by less than 5, SZ and Chain go up, FG and TS go down (FG with the loss)

    my brain hurts

So the subzero game is not quite over, but I think by Pfil's math, Sub and Chain have to go up.

    machine won 15-12

doublewide is tied with ring 14-14

a doublewide win gives machine a +7 heading into the next round with a three way tie a possibility

    interesting

ring wins at the cap 15-14

winner of ring-machine gets to go to the play in game (plays the loser of sub zero-boston)

in the other pool (i am assuming furious is going to beat pike),
if truck stop wins they go to the play in game
if truck stop loses by 4 or less, they go to the play in game
if truck stop loses by 6 or more, rhino goes to the play in game
if truck stop loses by 5,
-if furious beats pike by 6 or more, FG goes
-if furious beats pike by 5 or less, rhino goes

survivor of this morass plays the loser of condors-goat

    furious is screwed

    something brought up elsewhere

if furious wins and trucks stop scores at least 11 (in a game to 15), then the NW will lose both strength wild cards (SW and NE will win them)
